It is with a mix of profound gratitude and heartfelt reflection that we officially announce the burial arrangements for our beloved patriarch, Prince Thomas Ilori Oke. A man of unparalleled grace, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to family and community, Prince Thomas lived a life that was a testament to service, love, and legacy.
In accordance with his wishes and in consultation with our siblings, we are honoured to share that his final burial rites will take place from 27th May to 30th May 2025, culminating in a final burial ceremony at his cherished hometown of Afao Ekiti. Prince Thomas Ilori Oke was more than just a father; he was a guiding light, a mentor, and a pillar of strength whose life inspired all who crossed his path. His generosity knew no bounds, his faith was unshakable, and his commitment to excellence in all he did left an indelible mark on many lives. As we prepare to lay him to rest, we also celebrate a life filled with purpose, joy, and the enduring values he instilled in all of us.
Today, as we celebrate the 87th birthday of our hero, Father, grandfather, and patriarch, we reflect on the years gone by and ponder how best to honor and appreciate a man whose working life has been dedicated to advancing the choir and music ministry of the Celestial Church of Christ. Despite not having a degree in music, he, with his God-given skills, patience, and humility, nurtured the best elite choir in the Celestial Church, Army Barracks Parish — a team that still stands today, boasting the best performances compared to any international group. It was a choir loaded with world-class musicians including Apostle Remi Olabamji and Late Dr. Wole Adetiran, music director of CCC worldwide. Together they established the first central choirs in different states of the church, while Daddy was the first Choir director of the Oyo State Chapter.
It is on the strength of these accomplishments that we, the children of Daddy Thomas Ilori Oke, have decided to take his vision and aspirations to the next level by establishing the TIO Foundation for Music. This foundation is set to profile and chronicle all his works, experiences, and lessons learned, making them available to future generations through training, mentoring, and support.
The TIO Foundation is designed to establish the first Choirmaster Academy in Africa, a fully registered certificate-awarding academy that will train, educate, and equip today's choir leaders with the best approaches, strategies, and skill sets to raise highly successful choir groups capable of impacting the world at large. The academy will provide world-class exposure and opportunities for choir members and choristers alike. Our desire is to translate years of experience and toil in this sector into a platform to inspire and engage the upcoming generation of music leaders and practitioners to greater heights of accomplishment.
